What's Everyone Talking About Irobot Vacuum Today
The iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum Cleaner
Robot vacuums take pet hair, lint and dust from the floor before they settle. They can also avoid obstacles like furniture that is tippy and stairs.
Most robotic vacuums require maintenance. This includes emptying the bin (and sometimes rinsing it) and wiping the sensors and cameras. They also need to be connected. Many come with smartphone applications for scheduling, setting and more.
Roomba 980 from iRobot
The iRobot Roomba 980, the most recent in a line of top-of the-line robot vacuums, is a must for any modern home. This model is extremely powerful suction and an HEPA filter that'll assist anyone suffering from allergies. It also comes with an extremely powerful battery that can clean for two hours before returning to its dock automatically when the bin is full.

It also has an option called smart mapping that uses multiple sensors to help identify the areas in your home that require attention and make a tidy path around them. This technology is very effective in navigating toys left on the floor or furniture legs that are sticking out from underneath things. It also has a camera that snaps the Roomba back to the real world when it starts to drift away from its original location.
iRobot has also added a new set of rollers beneath the Roomba's bottom that don't have bristles and therefore tend to resist tangles better than previous models. The rollers are also larger and can fit under low couches or beds. They're designed to make the model more movable on various kinds of floors.
What sets the Roomba 980 apart from other models of this class however, is its inclusion of a new dirt detection feature, which uses cameras to identify particles of dirt embedded. This is a significant improvement over the previous version, that relied on the sensor-driven pseudorandom coverage technique to bounce around a room and clean it at minimum three times from various angles.
The Roomba 980 performed well in our tests on carpets and hard floors. It scored very well on low-pile carpet and also on mid-pile. Robot Vacuum Mops did a great job getting rid of pet hair, but had a difficult time with the long and thick pet hair that was stuck together.
Despite these slight limitations, the Roomba 980 remains one of our top-performing robots, and it's even nearly as expensive as the other top models on this list. It has many of the features you'd expect from a top model but does not have all the fancy apps and smart home integration that you'll see in other top contenders.
The iRobot Roomba is easy to set up and start working immediately. After taking off the yellow bin insert and the battery pull tab from the undercarriage, it is simply connected to the wall socket or one of its Home Base docking stations, press the "Clean button" and let it do its work. It will return to docking station when it has run out of battery or becomes full of debris. There are also indicators on top that indicate when the bin is empty, when it is in need of recharging or when it loses its Wi-Fi.
